MEET OUR FOUNDER
MARKELL JOHNSON
Markell Johnson was born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama. Markell learned at an early age how to provide for his family and having the mentality of a go getter. Facing real life challenges and trying to make ends-meet, he was expelled from school due to being tardy and missing classes. Markell then turned his attention to "the streets" and began selling drugs. His decision would eventually lead to violent events and incarceration. After going to prison twice and serving a total of three years behind bars, he knew that it was time to make a change. If not for himself, at least for his children. After being released Feb 28, 2018, he began his career in the city sanitation department and worked his way up to being the lead driver. Markell has defied all odds and has completely transformed his mindset which ultimately changed his life. He is now a proud husband homeowner, business owner and father of four. He has dedicated his life to Christ and is now focusing his attention towards helping the youth make better decisions through the JLJ Foundation. He has been humbled by his life experiences and is thankful that God helped him make it out. Now it is his turn to help others make it out as well.
